Red House Academy will teach a broad and rich curriculum. Engineering is the subject specialism based on a study of Maths, Science, Design & Technology, ICT and Art underpinned by a focus on English and Literacy development. The specialism will create pathways across the curriculum and make connections with all other subjects to create a vibrant and positive Academy community. This will be supported by state of the art facilities, in all curriculum areas, which will excite and enrich the wider community.

"Structures exist at all levels, from atomic and molecular to cellular, tissue, organ, organismic, population and ecosystem level."

Our use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will be extensive and well considered. Employers increasingly seek candidates who are equipped with a wide range of skills and competences for a wide range of jobs and the focus at Red House Academy will be to address the needs of 21st Century organisations looking to recruit the next generation of talented young people from our local community. We will work alongside relevant partners to provide students with the appropriate careers guidance. There will be an option for more able and talented students to start Key Stage 4 courses in Year 9. Close partnerships with our sponsors, together with the wider community, when combined with the first class facilities, will give the Academy the opportunity to be a Centre of Excellence.

Using new technology

New technologies will support learning and teaching both at the Academy and at home. As well as two well-equipped ICT suites, the Academy will provide clusters of desktop computers for students to work on their own, in small groups and as a class. Students will also be able to use the Academy’s Personal Learning Environment to support learning and teaching and parents will have access to a dedicated area to keep them informed about their child’s progress.

Well-designed software packages will support individual learning for students who will have the added advantage of being able to access learning packages and material outside the Academy day through this website.
