The curriculum is being designed to meet the needs of students of all abilities and there is a strong focus on personalised learning. In some cases this may mean a greater emphasis on literacy and numeracy if a child needs additional help in these key areas. For able and talented students there will be opportunities for extension work so that they are constantly challenged and stimulated.

The design of the Academy week will be innovative and will create space on Fridays for students to explore individual and group projects, as well as working in partnership with our sponsors, Leighton Group, City of Sunderland University, the Local Authority together with a wide range of other organisations. Students will have the chance to go on field trips and visits relevant to the curriculum as well as having access to residential opportunities as appropriate.
Although Fridays will be flexible, the core vision of learning and the development of each student will still drive the activities at the end of each week, with a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy.
Red House Academy wants to give all the students the skills, confidence, poise, drive and ambition to prepare them for the worlds of further and higher education and the wider working environment.
Presentation, team working and study skills will give them the chance to excel and some of the work on Fridays will support the principle of team and group collaboration in recognition of the constantly changing world in which we live. Red House Academy has a strong commitment to developing life skills through the development of self-confidence this will be an important component of our balanced and rich curriculum.
