Red House Academy will open in September 2009 on the site of Hylton Red House School. It will open in state of the art buildings and will offer a balanced curriculum to all pupils so they can pursue their own ambitions according to their personal ability and aptitude.

Engineering status will bring to the Academy specialist facilities, in terms of resources, which will allow us to develop problem solving and thinking skills through a strong focus on Maths, Science, ICT and Design and Technology.
Red House Academy is sponsored by Leighton Group, Sunderland Local Authority and Sunderland University. The uniqueness of this sponsorship will bring to the Academy educational opportunities, enhanced curriculum, work placement opportunities, resources and both national and international links. The sponsors will work with other partners in the business and educational field including City of Sunderland College, St Peter’s Sixth Form and other Local Authority Primary and Secondary Schools to ensure our young people are prepared for the 21st Century.
We are fully committed to each child in our Academy, recognising their uniqueness and individual potential. We have high expectations of our children in terms of behaviour and commitment to learning. We have high expectations of our parents in working with us as partners to support individual progress. Our links with primary feeder schools, the City of Sunderland College, St Peter’s Sixth Form and Sunderland University will ensure smooth transitions KS2-3, KS3-4, KS4-5 and finally into Higher Education, allowing a strategic approach to raising aspirations as well as attacking the traditional barriers to learning.
The Academy is the heart of the community and welcomes you and your family to take part in our learning activities and contribute to the learning of your children.
